The Brown Widow

The Brown Widow Latrodectus-Geometricus

The Brown Widow Latrodectus-Geometricus2

The pictures above are of the brown widow.  The female is on top and a male on bottom. Unlike the black widows the egg sacs will appear to have spurs, or spiked. This species however are known to reproduce and infest houses very quickly in large numbers. Like all widows they make a messy web, are shy and are of course venemous.  Its scientific name is latrodectus Geometricus.

Where is it?

This species is found everywhere except the polar regions..

how poisonous is it

Even though the LD50 of this spiders venom is only .09 mg/kg making it 45 less than that of its cousin the black widow (.002mg/kg) it is still dangerous to both children and elderly

With widows, they are shy and will run away whenever they can.
