Mediterranean black widow

Do not let the 13 dots on these things fool you. It is a widow and as such is veomous. This spider is also known as the European black window, as well as the steppe spider. Its scientific name is latrodectus tredecimguttatus.
It is commonly found throughout the Mediterranean region, ranging from Portugal to southwest and central Asia, hence the name.


This spider has an LD of .59 mg /kg  and as such bites should be avoided.
