About The White Widow

The White Widow Latrodectus-pallidus

While most people are concerned about the black widows, the white widow is also fairly venomous.  It is also called the white steppe spider or белый каракурт (in Russian). Its scientific name is latrodectus pallidus.

Where is it?
It can be found in North Africa, southern Russia, Kazakhstan, and other southwest Asian countries, as well as in the desert regions of the Middle East. It is well worth noting that it is the rarest of all the widows.

how poisonous is it

Being a rare or pretty does not mean this thing is not venomous. This spider has an LD of .014 mg /kg  which  is only 7 times less than its cousin the black widow (.002 mg/kg) making it one to avoid.

Should not be hard. They are not aggressive and will run when they have the chance.

There are some spiders which will attack you. This is the case with the Brazilian wanderer.

Orb weavers won't run because they are not shy but they won't attack you either because they are not aggressive.

It all depends on what kind of spider it is
